THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY

This is the short version of the "story behind the story" of my Kickstarter project.

The original goal of my project was to produce a limited print edition based on my original bald eagle paper sculpture and, if fully funded, award the original sculpture to one of my backers. I emailed Kickstarter three months prior to launch asking if my project as described above was appropriate for their platform. They replied with:

"YES IT WILL WORK PERFECTLY."

I spent the next three months building the project and submitted it once again for approval prior to launch and this time the email I received from Kickstarter read:

"EVERYTHING FALLS WITHIN OUR GUIDELINES. HOORAY!"

I launched the very same day and less than 24 hours later, after receiving over $1800 in pledges and building promising momentum, I was notified by Kickstarter that my project did NOT comply with their guidelines and that I would have to change my terms and remove all giveaway portions from my project in order to move forward.

And that brings us to today: because I've put a tremendous amount of work into sculpting the original and building my project for Kickstarter, I decided to move forward and have modified my project and eliminated all giveaways, which I had originally planned to handle through my website but have since been advised not to do so for legal reasons.
